My husband and I started round 2 of the Omni Drops this past weekend. We loaded on Saturday and Sunday. So what’s loading? It’s when you start the Omni Drops and then eat a large quantity of high fat foods. One would then ask yourself, “Why do I need to eat high fat foods when I’m trying to lose weight?”. Based on the book, Pounds and Inches by Dr. Simeon, when you load at the beginning of the hcg diet, loading opens up your fat cells so the hcg hormone can get inside your fat cells and get to working on depleting them. It doesn’t sound right, but it works.
What’s really surprising though, is that I didn’t even enjoy the loading days. The first meal we had was a pizza from a local restaurant in the area on Friday night and that was amazing. Then Saturday came and we went to breakfast at IHOP and I enjoyed two pancakes and a couple slices of bacon. For lunch I was really full from breakfast but we stopped at Friendly’s and enjoyed some appetizers and an ice cream sundae. Then came supper, we were meeting some friends at a sports grille and I ordered some poutine and mozzarella sticks. At home I enjoyed a Russell Stovers chocolate easter bunny before going to bed. I was stuffed. I’m not sure if I mentioned it here on this blog or not but I had the lap band (weight loss surgery) done 5 years ago. So eating a large amount of food at once is difficult. Although I don’t have any fluid in my lap band anymore, I still do have some slight restriction. Some day I’ll have to post more about my lap band and why I feel it was a complete failure for me but that’ll have to be another day and another post.
Back to loading, on Sunday we enjoyed 4 pounds of bacon – although I think I only ate about 10 slices. For lunch we went to an all you can eat Chinese buffet and it was terrible. I ate a bit of lo mein, some general tso’s chicken and that was it. I was full. My husband and I both commented on how full we were feeling and we had hardly eaten anything. Then I reminded him that we’ve been taking the Omni Drops for the past two days and they curb our hunger.
We were suppose to go to Five Guys for supper but decided to stay home and eat our leftovers – chocolate bunnies and pizza. I went to bed on Sunday a bit disappointed that I didn’t get more food in me but I was sick to my stomach eating all of that junk. Next time I’ll focus on things like peanut butter, guacamole and nuts.
Although I’m back on Phase 2, I will be posting some Phase 3 recipes from items I made over the past 3 weeks but haven’t posted on here yet. Be on lookout for Almond Cookies, Almond Flour Crust Pizza, Zucchini Noodles and More.
Oh, and today I created a new Instagram account. I had been using my personal account of “auggies” but thought that perhaps I should start one that focuses on my Clean Eating and is named after my blog “MyEatingCleanJourney“. Come follow me! Please…pretty please…with Stevia on Top.
I also have a basically unfilled lap-band – I lost 110 pounds in the year following surgery, but have gained about 50 back. I believe it has to do with only being able to take in so many calories, my metabolism was shot. I have done Omni drops, round 1 – phases 1 & 2 and lost 25 lbs. in 45 days. Now on Phase 3, trying to increase my calories to 1500, having the mild restriction of the lap-band and trying to get the calories in with good food is very difficult – I always have to be eating something every 2 hours and I always feel sooo full. Could you share any information that would be helpful on how you’ve done this? Thank you in advance!!!
Shannon, Thanks for stopping by my blog and posting a comment. I also started out a little tough with phase 3. When you get comfortable eating a small amount and then have to increase your intake, it can be a challenge (with or without the band). I found adding in full fat cheese and almonds as a snack helped get in the extra calories and helped keep me full. I was able to maintain my weight during phase 3.
The HCG diet is no joke. You do need to be really careful though!
